Could it be?

I'm not afraid to admit it... I'm not a fan of Anne Hathaway. However, I will say that I somehow stumbled upon this photo of her and thought it was just beautiful.

As I am reflecting on her, and see her photo under the header "Belle Laide," it dawns on me. I realize that the reason I don't find her particularly attractive is because she doesn't have any flaws. I don't mean to say that she is "flawless" in the typical sense of the word, but there isn't anything about her that I find intriguing. She is just very ordinary to me. There isn't anything in her personality or appearance that draws me in and makes me want to know more about her. The reason I started this blog was to comment on people and the things in life that aren't necessarily beautiful by definition, but have flaws and quirks that actually make them beautiful and relatable. Obviously, I don't know her and perhaps if I did my perception of her would change, and I would find a genuine personality in there. But for the time being, I can't change the way I feel about her.

Oddly enough, the reason I decided to make this post was to comment on how much I like this picture of her, and give her props rather than rag on her like I usually do, but oh well. I guess I know now that just because she is able to take a beautiful picture doesn't mean that I will be hopping on the Anne Hathaway Bandwagon anytime soon.

15 Movies

My Dad tagged me in one of these silly chain letters, but since it's for movies I figured I'd go for it. Fill it out for yourself if you want (and let me know if you do, so I can see your results!)

Rules: Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen movies you've seen that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes.

01. The Graduate
02. The Sandlot
03. Breakfast at Tiffany's
04. To Catch a Thief
05. Dirty Dancing
06. Risky Business
07. 500 Days of Summer
08. Roman Holiday
09. Breathless
10. Amelie
11. When Harry Met Sally
12. Annie Hall
13. Fight Club
14. 10 Things I Hate About You
15. High Fidelity

I suppose as a film major, I'm a little disappointed in myself that these aren't "better" movies. But you know what, they're my picks so judge away...

new new new!

So I have a new header. Not sure what I think yet. It might stick around, but it might disappear. We shall see.

This is so much more inspiring. Maybe it will result in me actually updating this more often. Only time will tell...

As if there were any doubts that I would adore this...

see, he gets it!

"She is a mom, a daughter, and an artist. She has a special eye, a unique voice, and the curiosity to explore. Couple that with an unconventional physical appeal and what comes through is style - real style, as opposed to someone who is conventionally beautiful and radiates perfection. When you aren't handed the pass of physical beauty, you have to mine other talents, and sometimes that makes you more interesting."
- Marc Jacobs on Sofia Coppola

That's the whole belle laide thing that I'm talking about! Such an elegant way to put it.

not just a pretty face

As you can see from my last post, I am officially obsessed with Mad Men. My aunt mentioned that Jon Hamm hosted SNL this season, and after much searching I was able to watch the episode. I had no idea he was so funny! Check out this digital short:

or this (which is even better!)

Its a Mad Mad World

Pardon my absence recently, but it's because I have been too busy drinking the Kool-Aid. Or at least, the TV Kool-Aid. I hoped on the bandwagon and decided to start watching AMC's Mad Men, and boy oh boy am I hooked!

Granted I wasn't alive in the 60's, but this show certainly makes me wish I were. Everything from the cars, to the furniture, to the hair is perfect! I can't believe how polished the show is. It appears that no detail has been overlooked, which I'm sure is nearly impossible to do in a period piece of this magnitude.

Not only are the sets and wardrobes immaculate, the acting is INCREDIBLE! Jon Hamm plays Don Draper with such poise and confidence while hiding such a complex past. I applaud the casting director that found him. Wow. Clearly I'm obsessed!

not to toot my own horn but...

...toot toot!!

All I want to do recently is re-do my studio. I blame it on design sponge and apartment therapy.

I need a tv stand, a place to put my dresser, lots of artwork, and want to paint my kitchen cabinets. I am dying for a desk like this:

So adorable!!

Alright, so I've been really bad about updating this. Here's what's going on:

First of all, my internship is over. It was so amazing, and I'm so happy I was able to participate. But now I am just another American twenty-something caught up in the job hunt. How exciting.

But here's how I've been occupying my time rather than updating my blog:

I am now 23. (the photo however is from my second birthday.)

I can't stop eating these (Asian Pears! Yummmmm)

I miss my Anthropologie discount, but not so much the job itself.

I couldn't love my apartment anymore. The poster is the newest addition, and the tulips were a lovely valentine's day surprise.

Love them Oxfords!

ok so

I don't really like this necessarily, however I stumbled upon this video one day and now every time I hear this song I picture Molly Ringwald dancing on top of those stairs. So here I am to ruin the song for the rest of you...
